I just trashed my main output shaft. The teeth are all on the gears and I am not sure if the cluster gear is any good under.

Thing is i was just road driving... so my question is why?

Also, any tips on checking the cluster gear under.. it's hard to see, i guess maybe when i take the transmission out....

to top it off.. i found my jeep is 4-wheel drive less! so that's project two!

oh well, i got it for a "project" and that's what i got! So I should consider myself lucky!

Remove the trans and disassemble. That's the only way you can really inspect it. If it's broken inside then it needs to come apart anyway and the thrusts for the cluster and bearings need to be inspected. Unfortunately, there ain't no easy way around this one. :( Nickmil.
