This is why you READ THE MANUAL!! it states specifically to make sure you have at least one or two fully charged fire extinguishers in case of just such an emergencie.

The first time I tried to start my jeep I actualy pushed it out into the driveway just incase something happened. And I had a big chemical fire extinguisher handy just in case.

Odd, the guy said that after telling the story. His boss (sits on the other side of the cubicle from us) asked him if he had gotten a fire extingusher.....reply was no. I told him that the zoom or boom line wasn't clearly defined and this was just part of getting into the 10's in the quarter for the guy.

newbe here ( sort of )

Did not want to steal thread but also do not think I need to start a new thread for the same thing.
I also plan to install a Mega Squirt on my Dauntless 225 V6 I was planing on mounting a holley TBI from a mopar v6 onto the offy intake I already have so a few thing will be different but I have a Delco distributor with Pertronix upgrade ( I do not think a HEI will fit with the offy ) firing the stock 225 oddfire This project is not pressing so I will pop in now and then to see how your all doing before i jump in and get started.

This is the Holley I have in mind http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...PageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008#ebayphotohosting

With Megasquirt you need to know how many lbhr or CC the injectors are if you know or can find it out for that TBI it looks like it would work just fine. The 225 according to the MS sight needs a 43 lbhr give or take injector when running two injectors to give you enough fuel at high end and be able to get it idle correctly with out running out of pulse width.

I have been reading and reading some more, I have not placed my order yet. I started talking to Matt @ DIYAutotune about MAP sensors. I am thinking about running the GM 1 BAR sensor that I got from the donor vehicle as a barometric sensor and run the 2.5 bar provided with the MSII as my MAP sensor. Any thoughts?
I am rebuilding the TBI unit and stumbled across this bit of info…

Matt @ DIYAutotune also told me that once the engine was tuned I could remove the LC1 wideband sensor and put in a bosch O2. I could then reuse the LC1 on another project if necessary?

Yes, all you would have to do is change the settings for a narrow band sensor in megatune. I never thought about that, but it sure could save you a couple hundred dollars that a new LC-1 costs.

I believe they need to be the exact same sensors inorder to be used for barometric correction.

I have been hesitant to place my order, when I initially startup this project I thought I would be in it for a couple hundred bucks. It will end up being over $600 or more. I have been slowly talking myself into it. I looked into the pro-jection system @ Summit it was $900 and change, this was not including the closed loop kit. Same effort for installation, and no tuning capabilities with the Holley system. I thought about going with the complete junkyard system but I always think “there is a reason why that car/truck is in the junkyard”. Will I end up trying to fix someone else’s problems?
I think the largest unexpected cost will be the LC1 wideband controller, and finding out that I can reuse it after tuning, in my mind, places it in with the laptop as test equipment. I am also affording myself the luxury of purchasing the wiring harness. Being as cheap as I am, I am finally placing some value on my time and asked myself could I purchase and build a serial cable with 12 feet of color code wire with labels?
This is how I have justified the cost to myself (as if you cared). Plus it’s a hobby and a learning experience. Nowledge ain’t free! Once the world finds out how great I am with fuel injection they will all beat a path to my door and I will soon rule the free world… or not.

I've built 2 Megasquirts myself. Still havn't had time to finish trouble shooting. It is very rare for them to work the first time. Just have both units sitting in a box next to me.

Just a follow up on this. I have hand built both megasquirts I have and they both worked as expected. I have also been running an MS1 for 12 years without a single hiccup. I think they are solid.

Interesting to see this bumped after all this time. Might you care to share what engines and basic configurations were used? (not asking for deep detail, just an overview of the system and engines)
