Just purchased a so called military f head engine. Can someone ID differences between a regular and a military version? It has a 1 3/4” crank bolt and cast crank weights instead of bolted and welded crank weights.

    Thanks

For a start, different carb. Has a engine lifting loop over the center of the valve cover. Double groove crank pulley. Massive bulletproof fuel/vacuum pump with priming lever. Waterproof 24volt distributor. Bellhouse has threaded drain plug for u/w operation. Etc etc. But most of those identifiers are bolt-on.

Possibly "MD" engine number prefix may be an indicator, if the block hasn't been milled.
