Took the Jeep for a ride today and looked up underneath the Best top and found it 95% covered in small mold spores. Has anyone encountered this and is there a safe remendy?

    Wow!!

 :( Immediately box entire top and hardware up and ship it to me here in Texas! I will start a rigorous therapy of cactus thorns and mesquite beans with Shiner Bock beer splashed liberally inside the top. I will install it on my jeep and let you know when the mold has died of heat stoke. R) LOL. I'm always willing to help out a fellow jeeper. :stout:

Oh yeah don't forget the doors.

    Matt,
After the above mentioned diluted bleach, try keeping the door windows cracked a bit to allow airflow thru. Periodically completely air it out if you have to keep it parked outside. I'm fortunate in that I park mine inside but always leave the windows open and have never had a problem, even after having driven in the rain. My .02, good luck.

Willysnut, top is on the way to you. Please return when corrected.

I thougt about diluted bleach as well. Think the material (black top) will be harmed?bleached?. The Jeep stays outside w/ full top on and doors off. Then is covered w/ the grey covers that you see in the Jeep catalogs. That I beleive is the root off my problem.
    Thanks for the help.

    Willysnut, look for that top.

I wonder if something like Lysol will take care of the mold? I agree diluted bleach of course should work too.

Talked to Best Top today and Lovely Lisa recommended Simple Green cleaner. ..diluted bleach not recommended. She said that it (Simple Green)will kill the mold.

Okay Willysnut. You can come up for air now.

I live in Florida. Don't need no stinking top! ha ha ha ha. Maybe a product called Odo-Ban would help. Won't bleach the top and is available at Sams Club.
