I should be receiving one tire pretty soon for doing fitment before I get the other 4. Wheels should be done this week from Powdercoat. I'm hoping the narrower 10.50 tire will tuck in without having to modify things. I painted a couple of Firestone 15x8 reverse wheels this weekend for my trailer. The trailer should look really good with the new wheels and the almost matching KH wheels on the Jeep.

I dropped the wheels off at Northwest Powder Solutions. http://northwestpowdersolutions.com/ . We've used them at work here quite a bit with good results.

I've also used Powdervision in Preston, but NWPS is closer for you.

I know how you all love looking at plain white wheels...... Picked them back up from PC today. They look good. Excited to get a tire for some test fitting.

The trailer made some progress last week but that trip to Colorado over the weekend to retrieve the Renegade 1 didn't allow progress on the trailer over the weekend. lol

If I may be so bold... and I will, what did it cost per wheel?

$65 ea was what it cost me. That included sand blasting before powder coating.

And...... I've been working on trying to get this damn thing to fit.... This has to be one of the worst top fitments I have attempted. It's hopefully getting some stretch right now.

The Bestop Tigertop is notorious for garbage fitment.

Yes, it's a Tigertop, and unfortunately the only thing available for a 6 unless you stumble across an old stock Whitco or Kayline. I snoozed on a Whitco for a crazy low price, but still didn't have the $$ for it, so I ended up with this one after I purchased someone's YJ-6 project. Once I re-sell the project Jeep I expect to have the new top for next to nothing. I'm into the entire Jeep for about the price of the top. I'm gonna put the doors on it and a heater inside I think and hopefully get it stretched more. It is a new top, never installed, but it's from the late 90's according to the window dates. I've already had to modify the rear bow by narrowing it so it fits the corners of the top, drill extra holes in the center bow for adjustments, move the bow mount about 2" forward of where they say it should go, shorten the horizontal door rods so the center bow could lean forward enough for the strap sewn into the top to go around it, and weld on some washers in the proper place for the vertical door rods to meet the horizontal rods and remain vertical. It's been a ridiculous amount of work just to get to this point and it appears the back fabric is just too damn narrow to get out around the tub.... But boy is this thing gonna be TIGHT when it's finally on.... Either that or ripped.

I did get the one new tire mounted up and on the Jeep last night. It clears the wheel opening just fine, but flexed it rubs the inner wheel well..... alot. I'm gonna try some 1.25" wheel spacers. Hopefully it will be just right to keep the tire still inside the wheel opening but off the wheel well.

Top improvement. It's tighter than a.... well ... you know.. But it's on. Have to install the 4 door snaps and the two windshield snaps and this pain in my behind is done.

Hoping the other 4 tires come tomorrow as they didn't show today either... 1.25" spacers I get on Saturday that will hopefully be just right for the rears. not real concerned about the fronts as the Dana 30 is already wider than stock. I do have some 1.5 spacers coming as well however.

Ok. I received the rest of the 33X10.50-15 General Grabber tires yesterday and ran em straight up to Big O for mounting and balancing. I got the on the Jeep last night. I ended up having to use spacers up front as well as in the back with these KH Wheels. They don't fit over the finned 11" drums I have on the front, and the rear needed to be widened to clear the inner fenderwell. 1.25" spacer is just a little too much width in the rear to tuck inside the fender still but it doesn't look like it will make contact on this trip. 1.5" is what I had left so that's what went on the front. It's more than I'd like also but again, not going to make contact on this trip.

I also took a huge rock to the windshield on my way to work yesterday..... This windshield is done unfortunately.

The trip went well but I did have a few issues- trip report here- http://www.earlycj5.net/forums/showthread.php?116672-Mostly-Dirt-Every-Day-MDED-2

At the start of the trip, on the way to the shop to meet up with the group, the OD popped out of direct drive going around a corner and pulling a hill.. It took me a minute to figure out what had even happened. Was just a loud bang and then "no go". I played with the trans, t-case, and then remembered the OD has kind of a middle position like neutral... That was it. It did that randomly the entire trip. I got used to holding it in under acceleration up a hill as it would only do it in first gear and made the best of the trip. The jeep also overheated a couple times so it's time for more fan or a shroud or both. I'm currently in the middle of sorting out the OD... Herm said shim it .070 and I did that yesterday. Now I've got some serious drivetrain drag in OD, but direct seems ok. Not sure if it solved the popping out of gear problem as I just rolled it off the ramps before I said "not right". I'm going to cut the shimming down to about .035 and see what happens there. The front shift OD's kinda suck to pull cause you have to pull the trans cover to get to the linkage to unhook it. Anyway... Had some heat issues of our own with no boot on the OD shifter making easy access into the passenger compartment... We were dying of heat on most of the days from from that. So I ordered up a triple shift boot from JB Custom Fab and got it all sorted.... Now I have to take it all back apart... I think I'll test drive without the trans cover on the next shimming exercise... lol

While reading another thread about the factory heater and the potential need for a core, I went looking for my WTB thread with info in it pertaining to the factory placebo heater.... it's gone. I didn't realize those went away so... I'm reposting what I can recall regarding the core. I only had to widen the outlet holes slightly on the box, and manipulate the hold down straps to get this new core into the box and it is working well at this point.
