I was referred over from Jeep Forum. I have a Jeep YJ (1993) and was asking how to add an EBrake as my stock one is void.

I was shown this pic as a possibility. Can I add this transfer case brake from a CJ to my YJ? If so, what years are thse off of?

    Thanks

    I see the pic. Hummm.

My YJ doesn't use that. But, I want it too since I put a Ford 8.8 in and have no parking brake. I wondered if that style parking brake would fit a NP231 transfer case?

Thanks. Sounds like a pressure line brake is in order then.

Why not hook up the 8.8 parking brake? Unless all the parts are missing it should be fairly easy to adapt some cables.

To agree with Patrick, the 231 transfer case is a completely different animal. There may be some short rear output shaft kits that have a housing machined for a park brake mount though. Check with AA, JB Conversions, Tera Mfg. and the like. Bet there's something out there.

All parts are missing. From axle to Jeep. I called a few of those, and they said no. Might just put a pressure lock in the line.

Just be aware that pressure locks like Mico Locks or line locks are meant for short term use only. They can bleed pressure off over time and if you have inspections in your area you are required to have a mechanical park brake separate from the hydraulic system for safety purposes.

    No inspectors in our state.

Some people say 2-3hrs your good while others have said they have left it for months. It's not a daily driver. I just need it for the trails.

Having lost a jeep due to parking break failure, I would not trust a hydraulic p brake set up. I think it would be cost effective to source the mechanical parts anyway.
