This summit shipment ought to solve the brake line problems......
15" Rubber coated steel braid lines and all necessary hardware to hook them up!

Seemed counterintuitive at first but you explained it perfectly. Who would have thought that the same technology that makes sports cars carve through corners would increase traction off road.

Hopefully tonight I can coerce my wife into helping me bleed the brakes tonight. She's usually willing to do so if I hand her a cocktail to sip on.....
I located the frame mount with the suspension at full droop to ensure that the shock will never hit. The pics give the appearance that the caliper fitting could hit the inner C on the axle. That is just an optical illusion.
All there is left to do is clean up the fender cutout, make a rubber belting inner fender filler and thread the sway bar links.

Ah the famous two person to bleed system. Have the same problem, working all alonein the garage is not very usefull when you need to bleed brake.

I have call speed bleeder today. They work just like a one way valve. Allow air and liquid to go out but close as soon as pressure is release, so nothing can get back in the system.

In preparation for a summer of serious abuse..... I figured its probably time to fab up a decent bracket for the fuel injection ECM.
I started off with some 18ga steel...... it's not like it will be a recovery point.....

With a snap of the fingers it looked like this.

A trip to the pan brake and it looks pretty good so far.

I just need to cut some slots for straps and add firewall brackets to the bottom.

I don't remember if you ever said where you located your ecm. If it is in the engine bay, you should consider adding some type of weather protection. Your ECM's case is not moisture tight.

Buttoned up the ECM mount this morning. Once painted I will install some rubber strips to elevate the ECM off of the bracket for air flow and vibration. Large velcro straps will retain the ECM.

Rubber belting where the bracket will attach to the firewall, belting underneath the ECM to allow air flow/ vibration dampening.
Now I just need to start the stretching ritual before contorting myself under the dash. Without fail, I will forget something and have to crawl back out..... :banghead:

Looks really nice! I will have to do a similar thing when I get my tub back on.. Maybe I should make this before I put it back together?

Finally got around to making a bracket and nodes for converting the TBI setup to crank fire.

Fuel pump block off plate, with 1/4" strap welded to it.

2012 Corvette cam sensor. It is made to mount into the front of an aluminum engine block. I will be making the mount out of steel and aluminum to isolate the sensor from magnetic metal.
The aluminum is 5/16" thick.... just some scrap I pulled out of the mill bone yard.

    Roughing out a bracket.

Trim a little.... fit it up...... trim some more.... over and over....

Mock up 79 times..... cut 35 times..... perfect fit eventually....

The firing nodes that bolt through the balancer holes. They are 7/16" bolts. I ground the heads flat on 2 sides and welded a piece of 1/4" key stock on top of them. This should provide a nice crisp signal...... I guess.....

The whole kit. The extra piece of aluminum with 2 holes in it is a spacer. Different thicknesses of spacer will allow me to set the sensing distance. I am starting off with 3/16".... I have 1/4" and 5/16" stock if the sensor needs to be closer to the nodes.

    Nodes installed, evenly spaced.

    The whole shebang.....

Right now I have about .110 clearance. There is definitely some magnetic pull to the sensor at this distance..... so I am hoping it will be close enough..... if not I will adjust the spacer for the aluminum sensor bracket.

Hopefully I'll get the sensor wired up this weekend and get Steve over to probe out the sensor to see if the sensing distance is correct.

You may need to reduce this clearance by half. If I remember correctly, in the OEM applications, the clearance between the sensor and tone ring is in the neighborhood of 40-60 thousands. Hopefully not and things will be good as is. Setup is looking good.

I can up the sensor bracket shim to 1/4” if it doesn’t sense.

So after a month or two of waiting..... look what showed up!
You might remember that I ordered these one night while celebrating (drinking some tasty IPA's) on making some money on selling an item that I was going to scrap out..... So they were basically free right????? :D One mans junk is another mans treasure.
These are beefy...... and totally unnecessary.....

The front dana 30 of course has to have brakes, hubs, spindles, and axle shafts removed for this installation. I only have about 10,000 miles on this dana 30 since rebuild and installation so everything came apart pretty easy. I have been running these seals-it Economy axle seals in the outer ends of my dana 30 for 3 years. They have successfully kept water out of the axle tubes...... even when my wife stalled the jeep in the middle of the Rubicon river...... no water got in the front axle. Everyone says you cant run outer axles seals in an old school D30 or D44..... but you can with these..... Economy Axle Seal – Seals-It...... The seal is installed in the tube with a heavy coat of "The Right Stuff" gasket maker.

The seals were filled with grease upon inital installation.... but this spring they started to squeak. I came up with a solution.......
I drilled and tapped a grease fitting into the axle tube in between the two seal lips. I can now pump the seal full of grease before big 4wd outings.

    Inner axles installed.

When I installed the front axle the ball joints felt great so I didn't change them...... well now they are sloppier than Joe Namath at the superbowl in 2003.....
New Moog units are inbound for tomorrow, hopefully everything can get buttoned up in a few days. I will try to document the install as best I can without getting my phone too greasy.
The wheel bearings were overdue for repacking and its time for front brake pads. We should be good for a few years once its all back together.

Well, you don't want that money to burn a hole... Very nice. I don't think I've ever seen RCV's in a ECJ5. You will be good to go for a long time.

Putting the inner is the easy part. I had struggled to put the ball in. It's a really a tight fit.

You will need to make sure the zerk of the upper ball joint point at the right direction. Also you have to prefit the balljoint on the knukkle so you can grind down the excess thread from the lower ball joint.

The only weakness now will be the external lock. I have convert mine with internal lock.
