A23BA167-61AD-4187-9D65-468C6CA1FD81.jpeg need some measurements from the bottom hinge inside the windshield frame for:

    A. Bottom of hinge to bottom of door attachment channel
    B. Bottom of hinge to top of door rod guide
    C. Bottom of hinge to center of the bow to windshield rod
    D. Not drawn, outside of windshield frame to outer edge of the windshield rod plate

Adapting a later model windshield to my M38A1 to have the taller glass with the wipers at the bottom.

    Thank you!
    Dennis

The basic frame dimensions are identical between the A-1 frame and the curved (upper) glass frame used from around '69 - '75. The '76-up frame is narrowed at the top and lays back a few more degrees. You should be able to transfer all the top hardware from the A-1 frame over the the CJ frame in the same locations. The A-1 frame has a unique feature; the upper top channel has a greater bow to it than the CJ version which follows the shape of the upper frame.

Unfortunately I don’t have the original frame and I am concerned that my approximations of the bracket locations will make my planned use of a canvas top not fit well. Picked the only reference that appears easy to use. I do have all the brackets, as a note it looks like the rod to windshield bracket will need remade as there is currently no space above the glass/below frame at curve to fit using the same attaching mechanism ( bolts from front to the “L” bracket).

Good to know about the difference in the upper channel shape - since the top is yet to be made I should be able to have them make it to the right shape to keep the correct tauntness.
    Thanks

I'm assuming you have an aftermarket frame? Every stock "late" frame already has the upper door hinge holes, which kind of sets the aluminum channel locations.

A “stock” replacement frame 69-75, so has the original rake, wipers on bottom (round access holes to linkage). It does have the two holes about 2/3 of the way up- no holes for door channel as they were sheet metal pan head screws and not drilled in this frame. Could center the “notch” of the door channel I guess around the upper hinge mount, holes appear to be 3/8” in the frame and the brackets look like 1/4” (?), a bit locationally sloppy, but likely the simplest way.
Only remaining measurement is the bow to windshield rod location point since its inset from the frame along the curve and this frame has no comparable points other than someone measuring it for me or I could try to find a high enough resolution photo to scale off. Difficulty is a representative photo, spent off and on about a week looking already.

This may help or not. It shows detail of the rod at the windshield. This frame is a stock 67 with top mount wipers.
The cable tie on the eye bolt is an anti rattle device.

    Very helpful, thanks!
Had not thought of an eye bolt, easily resolves the lack of space for the earlier “L” bracket”

I think that part came with the Tiger Top. I'm confident I didn't think of it.

I bent my hooks on the rods down at a 90 so the eye bolt is horizontal instead of vertical.

    Also a good idea, thanks!
Just ordered a stainless eyebolt, will paint it with self etching primer then OD paint to blend - so much easier than the “L” bracket adaption (since it wouldn't fit)!
