The previous owner stated that the steel fuel tank was rusty and needed replaced due to several plugged fuel filters. Since they are slightly cheaper and won't rust I ordered a poly gas tank replacement. Upon arrival I find the pickup is on the top rather than the bottom of the tank as the old one is made. I have no problem fabricating a length of fuel line but want to make sure the top feed won't present a problem.

The V6 Jeep has a top feed tank. Sounds like you have the wrong tank.

The "V6" tank also has a lock ring instead of screws, as I recall. Don't know that it's V6 as much as era ... possible the F134s ca 1968-70 also used the lock ring tank.

Thanks jeep2003 that's what was looking for. How did you run the fuel line , through the floor?

yes i ran steel lines right up to the top. And I slit a piece of heater hose over them through the floor to up under the seat to protect them. Also check inside the tank make sure the pickup is low to the bottom of the tank so you dont run out of gas prematurely and also adjust the fuel level sender so that its accurate.

Did the PO hook a fuel line to a drain outlet on the bottom of the tank?

The fuel line does come out of the bottom. I saw a diagram somewhere that showed a drain valve also but this does not have one.

Mine has the v6 and has the top mounted sender. Has provisions for in and out. Only issue i discovered untill recently is the sender is the wrong resistance for my gauges. Fuel level reads half what its supposed to
