Proflo 4 Issue

Just completed my install of the PF4 on my 77 cj 304. When I connected to power my entire fuel line from my batt through my relay and all the way back to the tank heated and smoked all insulation off and melted the relay. Has anyone had this happen? Where do I start after dropping the tank and testing the pump? This is my first project so if its an obvious issue i may just still be ignorant.... (fuel pump is an in tank pump)

 

I would say the wire got pinched and shorted to ground. Try again but add a fuse as close to the battery as possible.

 

Thank you for the reply, I had the same thoughts but wasn’t sure if that would cause it. Will definitely go with the fuse suggestion as well.
