I'm trying to reseal an old Ramsey 200 PTO winch. I'm disassembled to the point where the main gear housing is open and the gears need to be removed. I'm not sure which gear to remove first or how to do it. I don't want to break anything if possible because everything is in great shape and most of the hard parts are no longer available. I can press them out if necessary I just need to know which gear to remove first and if there are any tricks I need to know. All details would be helpful.

The worm screw has to come out first.

Is there any tips on getting it out first? Which direction should it be driven? should it be Twisted as it comes out? It appears from the blow apart above that there are no clips or anything like that to remove. I just want to make sure not to break anything.

    Thanks

Just remove the bearing caps (516 & 565 per the diagram) & screw the thing out the back.

It would take a *very* big hammer to break anything, don't use a *very* big hammer & you'll be fine :)

All back together. I'm going to need to rework the mounting bracket some when I actually install it but I'm very happy with how it turned out. Interesting side note. This winch has a spacer on the shaft so the winch won't go into free spool. I can't find the part on any of the blow apart diagrams I've found so I'm assuming that whoever had it before me wanted to only use it as a power in power out winch.
