Finally got a chance to get the jeep outside for some photos of the seats after they where re-covered and the fronts rebuilt with new springs and bottom foam. Went with all black rather then the OE pin stripe insert . Now I have original seats and the fold and tumble feature as it should be. On to the next thing.......? mike DSC03300.JPG DSC03292.JPG DSC03294.JPG

Seats look great Mike! Can you post a detail of how the back of the fold joint is handled to allow the vinyl to slide or move?
I also like your survivor sticker. Some day we might need to do a photo shoot with both our II's
Are you running 30's? I'm about to move forward on new treads.
p.s. It appears you may also ocean fish, a sea hawk is on my shopping list.

Thanks, I guess you would describe it as a bellows arrangement. Seems to have plenty of movement. 31" duratracs. That is as big as I would go with ROSS steering. The 235-75's are much nicer but seem a little small in todays world. They would be correct for our jeeps however. It's a '08 thunderjet hardtop 22' .

Mike, Have any pics of the process for the rebuild of the seats? I have the stockers in a 68 and the bottoms are trashed. Between the geese and rat pilings left over from digging it out of its barn yard burial site, the springs are pretty corroded. The foam seemed to have held the moisture and whatever else in.. anyways, I digress. What did the 2 front seats cost to completely redo, I presume a shop in Oregon did it for you? They look really nice!

Greetings, I will try to answer questions. I did not take any photos so that was unfortunate. I bought the seats and they where in ruff condition like you describe yours.Took them to upholstery shop and he said leave them and he would strip off bottom foam. Picked up the seats and went to work removing old springs and cleaning rust from frames.Painted cleaned frames with POR-15. I had a Levi rear seat that I bought for the buttons and found that the springs where the same as the front seats. There are 11 springs in rear seat so I had my 8 like new springs.I used a brake spring plier to install the springs using a piece of leather to protect the paint on frame .Took them back to upholstery shop and went over material and design a bit and waited for a call to come get them. The cost was $950 for all three. The rear seat didn't need any foam work just new cover. The key to my success in saving these seats was the upholstery guy willing to put in the extra effort to build up the bottom foam from scratch. The shop that did the work does mostly classic cars and truck and street rods so he is used to working with older seats and doing custom work.Hope that helps and good luck. mike
