Brown Santa dropped off the new front bumper today. Install took less than an hour. I'll get a pic tomorrow.

I like the way it looks except for the powder coat. No more plastic ends to rip off!
I'll see if I can get a better picture from straight on later when the light is better.
Now need to wait for more funds for the rock sliders, rear bumper and diff guards.

I like the bumper itself but not a huge fan of the powder coat. Otherwise very happy with it. Check out 4 WD hardware on ebay. Got it for $120 new. Morris pushed delivery to mid Dec. so I looked around and found that price. Odd since the 4WD website is $160

Congratulations Jeff. You will be very happy you waited for the auto tranny. I'm helping a neighbor install a Rubicrawler next month. Hope we can wheel together next season.

Only been out once and didn't need to use the lockers. Going to take a little getting used to.

You will find that the rear locker is also a limited slip that is pretty tight. That, coupled with the auto tranny makes for some great traction capabilities. I read through this thread and see you held out for the auto. Great looking Jeep. I have a neighbor who just went through the same search and ended up with a first year Rubicon with an auto. Way more manual tranny Rubicons out there. You scored!

4:1 t case too! Looking forward to getting it out and abusing it a little. It definitely rides better than my 71 and I don't need to shower after driving it:). My wife thinks it rides like a brick on wheels but likes it too.

    Two feet. Two pedals.

All in all just easier off-road, IMHO. Bump up to an obstacle, if you don't make it, let the Jeep roll back and then bump it a bit harder.

Dunes are way easier with an auto (probably mud too). Could never downshift a stick while trying to climb the face of a dune. You'd just dig in. The auto handles it much better.

More usable by the wife. She can drive a stick if necessary but it isn't "fun" for her. She'd never jump in my old CJs to go run an errand. She will with the auto in the TJ.

Parades easier too. :) I inadvertently ended up closing out our local Christmas parade last Saturday. Just wanted some spectator photos for the paper but the police finale closed in behind me and I was stuck waving and saying Merry Christmas!

no dunes really around here. you could just put it in low and try to get over the obstacle that way. autos are nice if you just want to cruise, but i like the idea of controlling what gear it's in, and therefore the ratio.

I have a rare auto immune and a side effect is arthritis. After a weekend of shifting I could barely move my arm at the shoulder. I loved the SM 420 in my 71' but I ain't getting any younger.
