Picking up the Jeep tomorrow. The first thing I know it will need are seats. The seats in it are boat seats mounted on 2x4's. My question is: Are there any aftermarket seats with mounts available fot the 1967 CJ5? If so, please point me in the right direction.

The previous owner was 6'8" and the currents seats are permanently mounted for his comfort. I'm "only" 6 foot tall and it's a bit of a stretch for me now.

Jeep suppliers sell repro seats. I'd start with Turner 4WD (www.thejeep.com) - the stock repros would be the fastest and simplest solution. Somebody here can probably find the stock brackets for you.

If you can find some used stock ones, the covers are available too.

Usually there's not enough leg room for tall folks. The back of the seat bumps up against the wheelhouse. The thin back of the boat seats would help that.

Depending on your timeframe, I will soon have a complete set of recovered Jeep lowback seats and frames available. Shipping might be killer, though. Not sure on price yet, I gotta see one of the sets - but I'm thinking in the $200 range.

Do you have the original mounts for the seat??? Some models have the seats integral to the mounts. the later ones had seperate mounts and seat combos. I just got a set of Trailmax seats. They are low back. i had high back seats but prefer the low backs :)

The Jeep is home now. There are no original seat mounts in it. It appears it might end up being a custom job, at least for the passenger seat. It looks like a previous owner cut away the under seat storage box or what ever it was. I will get pics up soon but I drove the Jeep around yesterday with my camera sitting on the fender and now I have no camera. I guess the excitement got to me.

Mad, I've got a set of the later style mounts, including a passenger side "cheater bar" for if the tool box has been removed. If you want I'll dig'em out, take some photos & measurements for you.
