I believe my rear seat is from an intermediate donor. I bought a reupholstery kit and I have no idea how to 'button up' the bottom. Any direction here would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a closer shot from the front showing the 'seam' that would be at your lower back:

Here is the same spot from the back:

I was expecting it to be similar to the bottom of the seat where there are places to attach hog rings. The back seam appears like it should have a wire that runs through it and the front seam has an unfinished edge. Do you overlap the back over the front or ....?

Possibly a zipper? I've seen some types made that way.

Start a Conversation with the member "Wirework" and point him here. He's done some stitching.

I believe the bottom is tied together with "hog rings" .I have a couple factory seats at the storage that I will check out wed.

The factory had a j shaped plastic on each edge that locked together. I used a piece of Velcro. Looks like your cover needs the hog rings.

Thanks for all of the responses! I have reservations about hog rings. It doesn't seem like the fabric would hold very long. On the bottom, there was reinforcement where the hog rings were used. The fabric around this piece seems like it would give easily if punctured. I'm liking the idea of a zipper or velcro. I may have to see if I can sew...

There is supposed to be a wire in the edge that the hog ring goes around, IIRC.

The muslin strip on the edge forms a pocket that the wire goes in on each side .they are drawn together and closed with hog rings. That is the factory application.
I am just the messenger. Have fun.

I bought a 100 year old treadle machine and taught myself to sew.
