Pete you're not in the wrong century, you understand reality. It is those who offer the remote that don't understand reality.

Just saying, in defense of the remote, I put a Kenworth radio in my Jeep, just what I wanted easy to put in and plenty of sound for my bad ears. It came with a remote, I thought what do I need this for? Well I found I like it, it is not easy to push on of the little buttons or turning it down, while bouncing along in a Jeep, so it remote is handy while moving in my Jeep. Something I thought I didn't need came in handy for my old Jeep.

If your not raised with the latest and greatest it can be a non-issue regarding AC power windows and such accessorys. In 05 I got my license mom had a dodge stratus, dad had an 85 one ton and I got the 60 CJ5. I drove the CJ to school and the 85 on occasion. Didn't want or need to drive the dodge. I drove the CJ5 in stock forum from basically Rochester New York to Kansas City MO. To do it again I would get some 11" Drums and look at the tapered roller bell crank since a restoration is in the mix. Pertronix ignition if any issues there arise. I beleave from reviews here the skyjacker springs have better ride than the stock springs. Just keep your head level for now and post lots of pictures.

I've taken a lot of time just driving my Jeep since I finished reviving it, and I can say I have learned the charm of owning a Jeep. I don't want it any more comfortable, the seats aren't too worn out and it accomplishes everything it was designed to do. I would never use the word barbaric when driving this piece of history, I would use the word class!
Granted, I still plan on replacing the worn leafs and front shocks with stock replacements sooner than later.

The appeal of simplicity can not be overstated.

GL with your restore. These old Jeeps are smile factories. Enjoy the path.
