hello gents I was out wheeling today and I snapped a front leaf spring. So it’s time to replace all my spring packs. While I was at it I was going to replace my nongreasable factory shackles with greasable ones. Any suggestion? 69 cj5 v6 also any suggestions for new leaf packs? Thanks much

Keep in mind that big difference in ride quality can be made with mounting angles of shocks and shackles, types of shocks, laden weight of the vehicle, road/trail use, thickness of callouses on the "ride meter" and other variables. It would be a minor miracle to find two Jeeps exactly the same.

Right now no lift factory height. I see it’s cheaper to buy a lift rather than piece together factory size leaf packs. I was looking at rough country or pro comp. 2.5”. Anyone else installed theses? What else does it require transfer case drop or anything like that ?

Welcome from Michigan. Everything depends on what you plan to use your jeep for, I use mine for touring on back roads and forest viewing on Fire Trails. I chose to keep it mostly stock, as one change, changes a lot of other things. If you lift it, now you need longer shocks, and then bigger tires, bigger tires might mean a taller stance, now you need a Roll Bar. With bigger tires you need bigger wheels, now you might have to change the axel gears, once you change the gears you might want locker axels, and so on and on and on. What it comes down to is What do you want to do in your Jeep, I enjoy mine as an original stock Jeep for just seeing the North Country from the trails or on two lane black top roads. Good Luck what ever you decide.

I used RC, 2in lift, YJ springs for a softer ride, but u must relocate the hangers.
I Also removed the short spring from the pack.

For improved ride quality and minimal work - bolt in place, no fab work required - either the BDS or Skyjacker softride springs in a 2" lift is probably the best ride you can do. I think they work great (I have the BDS)....might be a bit more lift than you want with a stock height tire though? Could try talking to the guys at Walcks and see what they say about some of their stock height springs? Maybe I have low expectations...but I find the ride quality just fine with the OEM width springs if they are flexy enough ....not saying a YJ/RockyRoad/Holbrook conversion wouldn't be better, but that is a lot of work and fab for some of us and maybe outside of the realm of realistic use? Could also talk to the guys at Alcan spring here in Colo - they custom make stuff, so you could get the ride height you want (stock to 1" lift) and the softride quality?

lift kits dont come with shackles, so you can get a 2"lift, and then a 0" lift greasable shackle from warrior products.
