Ordered the top bearing, and would need to have the bottom bushing made. I haven't open the column yet and was wonder if the above parts would correct the issue in the video below. I'll know once I get in there but thought I'd ask beforehand.

What about a split collar on the bottom?

there is a bottom bushing source, barneysjeepparts #999769.

i used a large washer (or two) to solve the issue you show in the video, placed between the u-joint and the end of the column.

Find someone with a Lathe and make one out of a Bronze product like "Oilite" or a Plastic product like UHMW ...........in either case you can hold the bushing in with a pair of allan set screws or I like to put opposing grease fittings in to keep additional lubrication in the bore that also keeps dirt out.

I really hated that the lower bearing is just a machined brass ring and not a ball bearing. I tried to find a kit to remedy that but could not find one. Boy the solution was simple.... I bought a flanged bearing with ball bearings. It is 22mm inner diameter and 37mm outer. It takes a slight bit of sanding with a Dremel (on the inner steering shaft itself & the inside of the outter steering 'tube') to fit. Let me know if you have any questions! It works great......

All good replies, and all good fixes. I'm liking the flanged bearing.

I just bought a scrapped YJ (if memory serves. Might have been off a CJ7) column for my 80 CJ5. Couple hundred bucks and a whole lot easier. Became necessary along with the YJ clutch pedal as I was doing my hydraulic clutch switch. Something to think about. It was a chore to find though. The swap out is very straight forward. Keep the other one for spares.
