steering question

I know this has been discussed before but I can't find the answer, I have searched for hours. I can turn my wheel two full turns to the right but only one to the left. I have the saginaw power steering conversion so it isn't the bell crank. Nothing seems to be hitting any where so what can it be?

 

is your box a really quick steering box? if it is the pitman arm centered? hmm let me think i see to remember a buddy also saying something about losening up something in the steering so he could center the wheel after lifting his XJ one time. someone else should chime in with what he did.

 

I would turn the steering wheel lock to lock and count the turns in the wheel; sounds like 3 according to you.
Then turn back 1 1/2 turns and stop; this is your center point.
Your pitman arm should be centered; I think the arm is splined so it will only go on one way.
It's possible the pitman arm and/or the box shaft could be bent/twisted also.
Does your drag link have an adjsutable sleeve? If so, loosen the clamps and center the wheel by turning the adjusting sleeve.
then recheck.

The pitman arm is brand new, I replaced the one that was on there because it was loose on the drag link. So it isn't twisted. When I replaced it the wheels were straight and I never turn the steering wheel so it didn't get shifted then. I was thinking that I could just take the pitman arm off the drag link, center the steering wheel, then make the adjustment to the drag link to center the wheel, but then the pitman arm won't be centered when my wheels are straight. Is there an adjustment in the steering box that I can make to center the steering wheel? Plus there is a slight amount of slop in the steering wheel, but I am hoping that in the process of fixing the centering problem I will fix that too.
