Does anyone have a thread for swinging pedals. Just bought a 69 C5 and started tear down. Thanks, Cole

Great, got a place to start. I also marked your disk brake thread a while back. Thanks again, Cole

image.jpg Not many photos still exist, but I've got the general idea. I ordered a booster and master. Also bought some TJ pedals on eBay. Started my template yesterday.

Going to use a set off an 83 Scrambler in my CJ6. I have also used Cherokee pedals in my 47 2a. And there is always the Wilwood option and you can hang dual masters on the firewall, but no powered.

Hoping I bought the right pedals. I'm on hold until parts arrive, plus work always gets in the way.

image.jpeg Parts came today. I think I bought the right pedals. I'm pretty sure best way is to split column with them. That should require the least bending. The booster that showed up was chrome, not anodized, but I'll go with it. Anyway, leaving for work for four days, then some minor surgery which will sideline me. I go nuts when I can't work on my projects. I think I may have a problem with jeeps!

image.jpeg Got a little done this morning. Plate cut out and mocked up on firewall and tacked in. I used 1/8 inch plate. A little easier to work with. Use hole saw.

image.jpeg image.jpeg Also, I don't want to get too excited. But the aftermarket booster seems to bolt up perfectly to the TJ pedals. Don't want to jinx it.

image.jpeg Cut the weld on the brake pedal shaft and moved it over 1/2 inch to the right. That allowed the booster shaft to line up and also moved the pedals in the right direction. Had to do a little heating and bending.

Might want to think about a brace running from that pedal bracket to the cowl above..............keeps all that stuff out front on the firewall from flexing.

+10 on connecting to the cowl somehow. Mine was a flexy flyer without that connection. I also plated my pedal bracket in a few spots to strengthen it. In my case after bending cutting the brake pedal into the correct position it was pretty far offset to the right of the bracket. It was a lot of twisting force on the bracket so I boxed it in where I could and strengthened it.

Thanks for the close up pic Terry. I was thinking about the best way to brace and that looks good. I'll get on that.

James, thanks as well for comments. I welded in a plate on the firewall side and am adding Terry's bracing. Do you have any pics of what else you did to strengthen. Trying to avoid going back in after it fails!

    Thanks again!

My pedal bracket is different than yours but same concept. I welded two plates on mine to strengthen the bracket. This picture is where it attaches to the firewall, you can see the trapezoid shape plate that I welded to the bracket to strengthen it. There is a similar one I added to the bottom.

For my connection to the cowl I did it slightly different than Tarry. I had an unused bracket on my firewall near the top of the cowl. I welded a bracket to that and bolted the top of my pedal to the bracket. It's really really hard to weld up under the cowl if your dash is still in like mine. This just worked easier for me and it's still very strong. You can see where the booster connection comes thru the plate on the firewall.

image.jpeg Got a little more done. The clutch master showed up. Got most of it mocked up, about ready to pull the body off.

What's the little booster from? Or is it an aftermarket unit for the street rod crowd?

It's an eBay special. Master and booster was $54.00. Not sure if the booster will do the trick. Better than nothing I suppose.

Thanks for the reply. I'm interested to hear the results. Mine is going to require something that small, or hydroboost, but I'd rather stay with vacuum if I can.

That "unused" bracket is actually the mounting point for the driver's side hood hinge. would have been easier to weld it you had unbolted the hood hinge and taken the three bolts out of the firewall.
