I am looking to replace the transmission on my 1975 CJ5. The problem is, I dont know what I have.

From the previous owner, I have it down to a T-150 or T-15. I know that stock with the V8s from 1972 to 1975 was the T-15, however, my engine is not stock, and I do not know what it orginally had in it.

What I do know about the transmission is that it is a 3spd, 1st is synconized, and the mountings are about 10 inches apart.

My next question, or maybe more important; can I find a 3spd with over drive to replace what I have?

jjeep, here's some info for you.

Borg Warner T15: The first 4 digits in the serial number cast into the case will be 1307
    (i.e. 1307xxxx)

Tremac T150:The first numbers should be 2603 or 260x

I guess it could also be a T14. The first 4 numbers would be 1302.

Get a wire brush and a rag, let us know what you find.
    HTH!!

there was not any numbers casted in the drivers side of the case, or on the top. There were some letters stamped into the shifter piece... its looked like M00 something... Also there was not a tag in the shifter bolts.. Any other places to look?

Can you post a pic? Picture is worth a thousand words.....
Especially of the top of the tranny. Easy to identify that way once you know what shape to look for. Nickmil.

T-15 shifter cover is pretty much rectangular. T-150 shifter cover tapers inward toward the front.
