Reviving this old thread. I am putting a late 68 V6 CJ5 together and I’m having a hard time figuring out which wheels to use. As far as I know my jeep has four of its original wheels on it (the spare is gone). Three of them have the normal solid ring around all the lugs and then there is one of these bump style wheels on it. I have seen another 68 that is super original and has two of one style and 3 of the other. Does anyone have any factory photos or period correct photos showing CJ5s with both style wheels on the same jeep? Anybody else have a 68 with original bump style wheels?

My 1966 has the “bump” steel rims. You could find 4 of the same style of either the smooth or the “bump” Seems the cj5’s came with them both, but the “bump” seems to be the ones on the v6’s.

I would be very surprised if a Jeep came from the factory with different types of rims (though with Jeeps very little seems to be strictly consistent, i.e. nearly anything is possible).

The "bump lug" type seems to have been primarily used during the 1966 and 1967 model years, though it's possible they may have been used later.
