I'll first try to give you all the items I'm using - then the problem.
    66 CJ5
    225 - V6
    Swapped Dana 30 w/disc
Herm's power steering kit for reverse rotation Ford steering gear.
Tie rod flip with Goferit inserts.

Problem is now the drag link is crossing the TR because the steering gear is behind the TR not in front like most.

I tried the 2 hole TRE but it is crooked in the wrong direction and binds and still crosses. If there was a 2 hole TRE with the opposite bend I think it would work.
    TRE.jpg

I do have the 2 hole knuckle on Passenger side. I could move the TR to the front hole and problem solved but I think this would throw off the geometry of the steering. But how much?

They do exist, at least I've seen them in a catalog, but I can't remember the application :(

How about a longer pitman arm?

One I have when I did the Saginaw conversion is the opposite bend. Got it from Advance Adapters in the kit. I looked recently and didn’t see it offered on their site.

The-Jeep-Guy.com has a two hole tie rod end for the Jeepster - I think it has the opposite bend.

    Mucho grande.

You might be able to align it so it goes straight down the road ok, but your tires will steer at different rates. Major scrub.

I might just be selling my kit here shortly if thats how the tie-rod crosses the drag link. Something told me it would be easier to do a front mount saginaw in the end... Any confirmation that the crossed arms is definitely by design? Or at least if its not by design why would the kit include the incorrect bend on the tie rod end?

The kit would be fine except I did the tie rod flip at the same time and now the little bend in the TRE is kind of backwards. I'm sure I'll like this setup better in the end as the steering gear is in the engine compartment and no modification of the cross member or engine mount is necessary.

This one from Advance Adapters listed for commandos/FC's seem to be backwards from the one from Walcks for CJ's but I can't tell if the tapers are reversed as well.-

I'm pretty sure Speedway has both. I'd try calling them.

Ah so you did not tell him you were flipping tie rod - PHEW. But also looking at this picture on his site it almost seems like its intended to be that way but I can't picture that steering all too well. [IMG]

When I was running y link steering and tie rod flip, I ordered 3 of the flip inserts. One for each kunckle and one for the tie rod end shown above. I Drilled out the TRE and welded a flip insert in it.

I edited my response above. The picture on his site shows the tie rod mounted under the knuckles and the drag link still crossed up. We need someone who's done this modification to let us know if that is to be expected and how it handles. I am having trouble picturing it working well but maybe I'm just not imagining it correctly in my head.

Looks to me it wouldn't matter where the draglink attaches on the right side unless it was behind the tie rod. The steering box needs to come forward or a longer pitman arm.

Tie rod flip has nothing to do with cross up.

To the original poster: did you install your steering box too far toward the firewall? Can it still move more forward?

It seems with this kit the steering box and pitman arm stay behind the TR. not like most folks PS setup, where the gear is out front of the crossmember I’ve found the TR end with opposite bend. I’m pretty sure I’ve got it worked out. Thanks everyone for the help. I’ll definitely update y’all here.
