The starter is not bogging down, it just is slipping real bad and at times barely making contact.
I am certain about the timing being set now.
The backfire is not all the tire, i am calling that one on a lean issue.
12v system is confirmed. new coil, new ballast resitor, new plug, cap, rotora plugs

    Ring gear is chewed, yes.
But it seems to me that if the bendix "throw" was fully engaging, it would still have enough meat left in the flywheel teeth to work sufficiently well.

It is getting chewed because the pinion teeth are not meshing to full depth, and that also explains the 'slipping.'

Sure you have the right bendix/pinion to match that particular ring gear? I believe there were several different ring gears, IIRC.

The backfiring through the carb really makes me think either a valve timing or valve adjustment issue. Can/have you run a compression test to make sure the valves are closed when they should be?

I replaced the bendix to the correct tooth count. It does seem to spin much better. It did start the first try with some starting fluid, and ran for like 4 sseconds.

Here is a video of it firing. You can see the pop and blue flame out the carb.

As mentioned earlier i have ok compression, the compression average is 80psi.

I also did get a pop out the exhaust also. But it just randomly happens. I had to stop for the evening because the battery needs to be charged.

Something that might be worth a try:
Pull your plugs out so your engine can spin freely, and hook a timing light to each wire one at a time while shining at the crank. Make sure your light is shining on the same spot on the crank (or close to it) every time it fires. It really sounds like something in the ignition system is loose, overly worn, or faulty, causing your spark to be all over the place and/or erratic. If it is only one cylinder that is going haywire, it might point to a bad cap. If all are wonky, it could be coil, a short in the distributor... at least it could give you a direction to start looking, or check it off your list.

I am close to that. What i am suspecting now is the distributer cap. It "fits" but as i said before it can come right off all to easy. Heck when i get it on the road i am kind of concerned that the cap may flop off when driving. It is designed for the distributer and indexes and seems correct but the clips do not hold onto it well.

If it is a bad condensor will it still spark, but just irratically? or depends on the breakdown. This is a new condensor, but i do have two others i can throw in. I am a newb when it comes to points ignition.

Yes, with bad condenser it will spark, but not good enough to run. bad condenser will def cause a lot of backfiring. barely run if at all.

The flame seen coming out of the carburetor was only possible because one of the intake valves was still open when the ignition fired. I also suspect there is a bit of flooding from the carb going on.

How diluted is your oil with gas after all this cranking? Plugs fouled? Getting a full 12V to the plus side of coil during crank? Have you ever had this engine running before? Has the timing gears been replaced or removed that you know of?

I do know the carb is flooding the intake still, not as bad, but i did see fluid in the bottom. That has been a constant issue with these Solexes, and I did add a pressure regulator.
The engine did run prior, and only for a test. That is when i found a stuck valve. I cleaned and reinstalled the valves and comrpession was restored to the cylinder that had stuck cylinder
12v to coil. I do have the resistor inline for the coil, but i also added that 12v connection from FORD solinoid to give full 12v during initial startup.
Not sure about timing gears and such.

Personally I would get the carb issue fixed before you try anything more than changing the condenser.

x2. For the time and aggravation, you might come out ahead by getting a good professionally rebuilt original carb.

    Well It is FRICKIN RUNNING!!!!!

I changed out the brand new condensor i had in it for one i pulled from my last scout and it fired right up and idles.
I had to lower the idle a bit, it is noisey as heck from something and it is smoking but dammit, it is running.
Thanks for the help. This thing was kicking my butt.

I will get one up later. i just went out again and put the grill back on and connected the air cleaner.
I started it again and it cranked right up and ran. I ran it for a little bit and had my IR thermometer to watch it since i did not have any antifreeze in it but wanted to get it heat up before putting antifreeze in. So it is cooling down now and i will fill it and get a video up in about an hour.
