Background: This roller was being built by a guy in town renown for his mechanical ability. He got the roller completed and then passed away. His son sold the roller to a jeep guy who was going to finish it. He never got to it and now is out of the jeep hobby activity. He is the person who has the T90 i went to see. I saw this and he gave me a price I could not turn down. from what i can see from my inspection the v6 has been rebuilt, but have a nest of some kind in one of the cylinders. D18 transfer case and T86 look to be rebuilt also all the running gear. frame has be reinfored with some channel plates. My assumptions are that the orginal builder rebuilt everything u see in the pictures. I know about assumptions, but with his reputation and everything looking clean I think I will find quality. The only issue is that this roller sat for a few years outside so there is some investigating to do. I needed a lot of items on this jeep for my cj5, so it was a good buy no matter what.

Why do you think that the engine or tranny has been rebuilt?

I hope the date stamp on your camera is off a few years in your photos. Otherwise, it looks pretty good, but you won't know what you have until you open things up. Axles are likely 3:73 ratio, but you never know. There might be a limited slip hiding in there!

just a gut feel hunch from looking at quality of work done, but since then I have looked in the transmission and see NO wear on exposed gears. Even if they are not rebuilt, dont think they would have been used unless in good shape., my main reason to purchase was to get the motor which I can rebuild or inspect on a stand then exchange into my jeep. also differentials are better, a lot less slop, drive shafts have new bearings, better than mine, all ss brake line which i need, new brakes, stiffened frame, good exhaust maniforlds and heat valve, nice wheels.
I got all this for 500 so really happy with it.
yesterday i got transmission and transfer case loosened up, was rusted, then drained and filled with oil to the top. motor i removed valve covers, intake, exhaust manifolds and spark plugs.
sprayed everything with chain oil, no rust in motor, put penetrating oil in heads around valve stems, put oil in spark plug holes and turned crank.
I did find one bent push rod and and CAM DID NOT TURN WITH CRANK. MUST be someone tried to turn and one time and broke chain or something up front. Im sure it wasnt put together that way, spark plus were new.
anyway hope that answered your question. now it will be parked inside until next spring when we get back to upstate ny ( spend winter in oklahoma) when i will decide which way to go to get one jeep out of mine and this one.
    Thanks

    Roller update.
Swapped out the front end asm including springs. The "roller" front diff gears were much tighter than mine. Springs better too. Kept the hubs, "rollers were bad". Installing new brake lines, wheel cylinders, master cylinder ( 11 in ) while I'm at it. Also cleaning as I go along. Waiting for parts right now then will move on to the rear.

Yes my stupid date stamp is wrong

I hate when you go out to buy a part and come back with the whole rig. Went out for doors a few weeks ago and came back with another JC. I like your purchase though, its a good investment and now you have spare parts for another one. See where I am going with this......................:bananatool:
