    HELP!
On the driver side of the block of an inline 6 I have these two nuts! They look like water temp stuff but I through the temperature gauge unit was above the thermo-sate. Any and all help will be welcomed!

I have the TSM and it is not in the 1975. Could it be a different block from an newer jeep? Do I need it? I do not have an EGR vale on the engine.

I found a pic in the 1975 TSM that it looks like a engine block heater. Nuts look the same but the nut closer to the fire wall has a wire.

Thank you Tim for you help! I really think it's a engine block heater.

The holes are for the functions I showed in the pictures. These drawings are copied directly from section 4A of the TSM. If they are not in there, you have the wrong manual.

You asked what they are for - that's why they are there - spark and EGR CTOs. The holes go into the water jacket. They could have been re-purposed.

You are mistaken. These drawings are from the 1975 TSM.

You're welcome - the front hole looks like a broken-off CTO. The rear hole may have been re-purposed.

I look on 4a-12 and it does show it. It is part of emission. I have the wrong manifold. I’ll need to get the parts. Any idea where

Do you need to restore the emissions equipment? Unlikely in PA, I would think. Show the manifolds you have now.

This is the intake manifold that came with the jeep. I do not know I could ask my mechanic

What would you like to do? Your manifold will not accept the EGR valve. There's no mystery here - that manifold is from a model with less emissions equipment.

Read the TSM - there is a table at the end of ch. 4A that shows what systems you need for a specific model and equipment. There are CA vehicles and NW (nation wide). No EGR was needed for NW vehicles, so you have the right manifold.

Even without needing the EGR, the hole in the block for the CTO will still be there so the models that need the EGR can be so equipped.

I was thinking of trying to replace the emissions equipment. I’m going to see if I can get the CTO parts. I can get a new intake manifold and the EGR valve.

    Read my post above carefully.

Read the TSM. You only need the devices that are in the table at the end of Ch. 4A.
