Wondering what color blue I have on my 65 CJ5? Color charts don't really show this color but I think it's the original color. Sierra Blue is what I am thinking...I call her Stella Blue after the Grateful Dead song by the same name![IMG]

Sierra Blue is a sky blue, slightly darker than "Carolina blue".
The blues available for '65 were Sierra blue, Nordic blue, Marlin Blue poly, and Parade blue poly.
Marlin is very dark, Nordic is meduim/deep blue metallic. I think Parade blue was only used on trucks.
Its possible your Jeep was Nordic blue, but your photo has a lot of colors showing. Is your paint a metallic (poly)? Look up under the cowl behind the dash. This is often the last place to find the original color, or look under the serial tag on the firewall; 4 phillips screws may reveal the original color.

Find some original paint and see if your paint is metallic or solid. Sierra blue was usually used on special models such as the Tuxes, or even Rennegade l's. It was pretty unusual on a regular CJ5.

10-4 Donny, thx for the advice. I'm going to be pulling the dash as I found a factory from a guy in MA that has never been touched (mine has holes drilled here and there. I'll get a good look when I pull the old one!! I still yearn for the knowledge guys like you have acquired!!
