I just finished installing a rear fuel tank in my 69 CJ5 and now I'm fabricating a fuel switch for it. IMG_5205.jpg IMG_5204.jpg

I like that manual valve. Straight cutover or gravity underseat to rear?

Underseat but I would love to see what all other people have done with them.

Getting the tall section of my garage ready for painting~ a couple more LED lights and I should be good to go;) I have a fresh air breathing machine (cool air is piped from my air conditioned garage)and good ventilation. A little more body work; maybe in a couple weeks to shoot the tub and grill~ I hope to do a good job~ just can't decide whether to go single or two stage paint~ leaning towards two stage.

When I decided to put cover on the trailer I started with a 8X10 drop cloth w/grommets. Dyed it gray and I wanted to make it water proof. Found a recipe online, 1lb amber, 4 lbs bees wax, gal linseed oil. But after I got it made, when I tried to apply the mixture it instantly turned to wax.

Fast forward 20yrs. I now have a gray canvas top, but after 2 years in the sun it has started to leak under heavy rain. So I thought I would try the wax mixture again. After 20 minutes of looking I found the pot that has the mixture, squirreled away on a top back shelf. I heated it back up and stirred until all was liquid again. I took 1/2 cup of the mixture and added 1/4 more linseed oil. laid out the tarp and started brushing it on. did about a 2x2 ft square, took a clean rag and rubbed the excess off. I think it is sealed again.

As the mixture cools in the cup it turns solid.

And you have to keep it hot. and yes it is boiling.

This is really cool. I’m going to have to do something similar because my cage is longer than a stock bikini top will cover. So there are no straps? What did you snap to? Any pics from up inside?

This is for my M416 trailer and internal straps are not necessary

It's supposed to rain today so we will see how it works... :coffee:

The frame inside is made from electrical conduit, and I have the corners covered with cloth tubes, to reduce friction, and they need replaced. they have been there so long they are starting to dry rot.

    Installing some NOS items...

That moment when you open up a sealed NOS Power Lock for a Dana 27 that has not seen the light of day since June of 1963. It really hurt to cut the canvas seal open on this one.

Out of curiosity, what’s the center to center hole measurement on factory shackles?

I was going to put straps, but then it seemed so sturdy and looked good the way it is, so I left alone for now. You can just make out the snaps on the underside of the roll bar. I still need to install a couple more snaps. We took it for a short ride, nice n quieter. I would say at 50mph, would probably flop pretty good, but for our tinker type driving serves the purpose. I'm thinking of a support in the middle, but just not necessary and it will never see rain anyway;)
I'll take a better pic tomorrow

I just measured them last night right out of these NOS boxes. 2.75" unless I am misinterpreting what he is asking?

I was looking for a measurement from the center of the hole to the center of the other hole. 2.75” sounds believable to me. (y)

It's not much, but had to do something other than wiring for a bit. Finally got the rear bumper/tire carrier mounted. Had to switch the break light/back-up light locations, but it was a necessary distraction from running wires/crimping/soldering :bananatool:
