What color white did Jeep use for wheels in the 60? I'm getting mine back from the sand blaster today. My plan is to paint them white but I don't know what to use. Pure white, off white? Flat, gloss?
I've used Rustoleum before with good results on wheels but never in white.
    Thanks,
    Ken

    It's a creamy white as I recall.

The picture above is Duplicolor wheel coating, a spray can.

I have heard people have used Glacier White off the Willys Paint sample charts.

Bump - was there an authoritative answer to this? And OEM was Paint not powder coating right?

For what its worth, I have a couple mid-'60s original rims. They were painted black overall, then the outer side and outside bead area were painted white. The white overspray covered almost the whole drop center of the rims.
I can't confirm the shade of white, but it looks very close to Glacier White.
Powdercoating wasn't a thing back when our Jeeps were made.

Is Glacier White a white with a yellowish tint? Or bluish?

    Cool,
At those prices, I'll take three of everything.

September of '69 is the begining of the '70 model year. When did Champagne White begin to be used as the wheel color?

That sort of "creamy white" looks right to me...

If you go to the Jeep parts book, it will give you a Ditzler or competitor color code for the wheels. The wheel color changes over the years; in this era I would expect a cream color, and later a more neutral white color.

JMO - you can spend a lot of time and money to get the exact white that the factory used. I would pick a white-like color that is in the 'spirit' of the original color, and move on. Lots of different spray can colors available.

Note that these spray cans will be plain lacquer or enamel, and not nearly as durable as the original catalyzed enamel. It's what you get with a spray can ...
