    I have searched...
found some good info, some 404 not found links and Im trying to get some actual measurements.

Went for test fit 1 of my hardtop today and it seems my windshield frame angle is to great for a good upper lip seal.
Ive cranked down on my AA windshield latches and Im debating throwing some ratchet straps to really get the angle set correctly. Question is what is the correct angle?

for those who have hardtops specifically, what is the angle your windshields are set at?
from measuring the top of the frame to rear of the tub, I could possibly be an inch off..

measurement for a CJ5 is suppose to be 70 3/4" Im assuming for my CJ6 if would be 90 3/4"?
im not entirely sure the AA latches will allow me to get this extra inch of rake..

it sat on the back of the tub and didn't quite make it over the frame top...

I had a hood come unlatched at 45 mph, rocking the frame back so the soft top was loose. Pulled the upper hinge halves out if the frame, clamped the bottom part in vice, and applied some English with a hand sledge. Might be able to rock yours back a few degrees, but dont recommend tugging on the frame. Take the hinge halves out and adjust them separately.

I had to take a sander to the cowl gasket to get one to fit. It was amazing how much it came back after just removing the 32" or so of the raised edge of the old hard gasket.

As was stated, I'd make sure your doors match your desired angle before you do anything drastic.

    ok..
i like these less neolithic approaches..

I had thought of shaving the gasket... prior to any of these issues, when i was first assembling the jeep..
Cutting and rewelding the windshield hinges is fantastic!! thats something that just totally got by me.

Im going to throw an angle gauge on it tonight... grab a door and bring home tomorrow so I can mess with this..

    Started fooling around with this...
shaving down the grooves with a razor blade and I soon butchered up the seal...

There has to be a more accurate way to do this.
The angle i need it achievable, just going to take some latch work and gasket adjustment.

raising the hinge on the tub has the same result. my tub is glass and i couldn't use the steel top till i raised the hinges to let the windshield frame come back to fit under the top.

Would one have to fill the lower portion of the egged out holes? Seems improbable that the hinge would ever want to move downward, even if the holes were slotted.

took the belt sander and really went after the seal....
got it down to almost a leather like feel..
I should now be well within the range for mounting the top..

I figured get it on and set.. can always get another seal and remove material more precisely

Modify the cheap part first is always a good strategy. After further investigation modify the defective part if necessary.

i would an egg shaped hole is just waiting to let the hinge move again esp if you were to fold the windshield often.
