Im looking to throw some OME Springs on my 73. I was going to get a Rocky Road kit, but they're back ordered for a couple months. Has any one pieced one together before?

Besides the obvious, u-bolts, spring plates, bushings and springs, am I correct in guessing all I need is new front and rear shackle hangers and new spring hangers front and rear? Also what spring hangers are you using for the front spring?

This is my part list for the shackle hangers and rear spring hanger.

Mountain Off-Road 7686RSH25Y Rear Shackle Hangers for 76-86 Jeep® CJ with 2.5" Wide Springs & 1-1/4" Diameter Bushings

Mountain Off-Road 7686FSH25Y Front Shackle Hangers for 76-86 Jeep® CJ with 2.5" Wide Springs & 1-1/4" Diameter Bushings

Crown Automotive J8127712 Rear Spring Hanger for 76-86 Jeep® CJ Series

I bought wrangler spring perches, shackle mounts and spring mounts. A the time I also was building a new frame, but the work is the same besides grinding off the old ones. You will need to weld on the new ones and you can also make sure you have 7 degrees or so of caster with the new springs if you are welding on the wider spring perches. The u bolt plates I made and bought the Ubolts from Stengel bros. They have any size you want. The ones I ordered from other places were not correct.

i have a rocky road kit that i bought many years ago. i am in the process of putting a new frame under my '75, and i am adding the RR wrangler spring conversion. i purchased new spring anchors from Q-tec, and shackle hangers from there and one other place. (these were for the intermediate cj, not the wrangler) i needed to replace these, as the new frame does not have any of them on it, and cutting them off of the original frame didn't seem like a great idea, but they are needed for using the RR kit.

you'll need something to extend the front shackle hanger forward from the stock location, as the wrangler front springs are longer than the stock '73 springs. i am (obviously) using the RR-supplied front shackle hanger.

I have Rock Road Kit. It took me a long time to get it. Seems they make the parts when you order. I just love there Old Man Emu Springs. Very soft.

yes, it does. in the comment above, i am pointing out that without the kit, a means of accomodating the longer front spring is needed. it cannot use both the factory anchor point and the front shackle. in fact, the RR kit uses neither, instead moving the anchor point to the rear and the shackle mount forward.
