I'm installed the new master cylinder and ready to test drive it. While putting a way the tools, I hear this loud...Release of high pressure air. Almost sounded like a jet engine. Thinking that was odd and not knowing what it was. I hoped into the Jeep to fire it up. When I put my foot onto the clutch pedal. I find it goes strait to the floor. I get out to inspect the hydraulic clutch. The slave cylinder has dumped on the floor. So I open the cap. No clutch fluid.

Now how could a slave cylinder blow without toughing the pedal?:?

Could the cap not be venting and build up enough pressure to blow the slave cylinder?

So you had the jeep running to warm up while you were putting the tools away? Never mind, I re-read and see it was not????

Did you bench bleed the master cylinder?

It sounds like there was air in the system that was pressured up and sought the easiest way out.

My guess is the slave had the wrong seal, an improperly installed seal or a missing component like a retaining ring.

Had that problem with a Ford truck.

The only solution I could come up with was a heat shield between it and the the exhaust and run DOT 5 in it. In the ford truck it would happen when a driver would hold in the clutch at stop signs or traffic lights.

Is you master cylinder rod coming ALL the way out. Is partially depressing the piston?
