Another jeep, Dad's Tuxedo Park

    Just another D25, but with spindle stud conversion, Spicer joints, and the 10" brakes.

    I never did the stud conversion, but I did do 11" brakes with the stock master and it was quite amazing with how well i could stop. One side of my axle shafts was rzeppa and the other was bendix.

    All the axles we've ever built over the years for our Jeeps get spindle studs..:shrug: Just what we do..;)

    Thanks! I picked it up off of the Lemon Lot about a year or so ago. Got it for my son for when he's ready to drive. That gives me a couple more years to get it dialed in.

    Ah! I just realized what Jeep that was. You bought that from Don...I didn't recognize it with the lift. That was probably the most complete, stock CJ7 I've ever seen.

    Bingo! Yup, got it from Don. It was bone stock, which is why I got it! I'm surprised it spent so much time on the lot...I'm thinking the extreme paint oxidation was the culprit. I spent two full weekends with DA damp sanding and polishing just to see if there was any Dark Honey paint left underneath. It's running a Howell now....runs fantastic! I have the rear bumper/carrier....just haven't put it on yet. I want to get a full cage in there before he drives it full time. I'm thinking YJ cage swap to get rear shoulder belts, coupled with a front hoop setup.

    Rear tire carrier. Just waiting on a latch. There is angle iron welded to the edges of the tailgate, which rest on the stands on the bumper so no chains are needed. I made the pivot with a bronze bushing, and installed a grease fitting. It works very well, and is very simple and light. There is a complete spindle, wheels bearings, and hub.     It's quite stable, and doesn't bounce, rattle, or squeak. I ordered a right angle toggle style latch from McMaster-Carr.

    Nice job...I knew a guy who had a spindle, hub etc ready to go on his spare...Great way to be prepared.

    2 1/2" pipe, Dynomax mufflers...I like the way it sounds. It is a bit raspy at higher RPM's, but deep and throaty at idle.

    Living in the same town as Patrick, I will chime in. It sounds good! It's a head turner, because the sound is unexpected. When he pulls away from a red light, you want to roll down the window to have a listen...

    That's exactly the setup I have. I like the Dynomax mufflers!

    Eventually I'd like to put block hugger headers on it, with a Y-pipe, and run single exhaust with a nice "performance" muffler, and a single tail pipe out under the passenger rear corner.

    That's the setup I have for the CJ-6 (once it gets on the road.....). Edelbrock shorty headers that mimic the factory manifolds with regard to where their collector resides, then a Y pipe that goes into a Magnaflow. I am hoping for a deep throaty sound. I'm not much for the raspy/braaaaty sound.

    Block huggers for the V6 are expensive, and with the Turbo 350 auto trans, there isn't much room... Actually I'd have to look to see if there is enough room for any inside the frame exhaust..

    The raspy sound at higher RPM is hard to get away from with a V6, unless I just make it really quiet.
