I really can't say. I have a Koenig Pto on my 3B and a M6000 on my Commando. Neither have failed to do their tasks. A few friends have a few other brands that had issues like solenoids sticking and wiring that wasn't done right so a friend had to hold the wire in the connector. Just me, get a good product and it will save your sorry butt and your friends as well. I don' know many times I run my Koenig out to do a assist.
The M8000 is actually the old M6000. they figured out that it pulled a bit more than they thought.

 

How about put one on the TJ and test it out? Personally I'd go Warn if you need to depend on it as it will give you piece of mind. If you don't like the Engo it will still look good on the TJ

Yes........... you need dependability in some form or another if this conversation is about recovery of a stuck vehicle.........and that could realistically be any number of good brands out there........but the reality of any winch performing comes right back to the person behind the controls.......Nothing more , Nothing less..............that along with having the proper support accessories under the seat like extra cable , chains , snatch block , clevis's Etc.......and of course the ability and knowledge to use them.

Another option might be the Warn VR series. I have one on a mobile mount for my flatbed trailer. The little I've used it seems to work well and have plenty of power, and be reasonably well built, but you can definitely see the quality difference between it and the higher end Warn.

I agree with you to a point Tarry99 but no amount of skill, accessories, or experience will make a piece of junk better than what it starts out as.

 

Chances are when you need a winch, you really need it. One tow truck one time will cost more than the savings on a cheap winch.

So I'm a PTO guy all the way.
