  1. PROJECT UPDATE:
Great question let’s get into it.

So above is before and after. After inspection found 2 big cracks in the T-case. So started with a new case. Decided to switch up a run 4:11 gears. When I got the Jeep he had no emergency brake assembly except for the backing plate. Got that all setup new. They went threw the warn overdrive. New gaskets and seals. Had him look over the gears in the trans. Since I ripped them out practically on accident even though people on here told me to be careful of that. Didn’t do a rebuild kit on it. That’s why they didn’t paint it. I will once I pop it in. The big hold up was the overdrive gear. It was the wrong tooth count. Lucky advance adaptors makes it still. Ordered it in November, Advance adaptors said we’d have it in December. Then pushed to January. Then pushed to end of February. And picked it up today March 1st. Like I said earlier this isn’t the battle I wanted to take on. Wanted everything professionally gone threw and done right the first time. And im okay paying a little more to have someone els do it. I don’t need the be the do it all guy. Everything is tight and properly sealed, all new hardware and to spec. And that’s what I’m happy about. Did it take longer then I wanted? Oh yeah. But I’m glad to have it all back. In the next weekend or two will have it all back together and driving.

What's the surface like? Put a machinists ruler across it and see if it's flat, see what the surface texture is like. Check with a shop - suspect it's not an expensive operation.

tomorrow we’re gonna throw it on the lift, pop off that bell housing. Make sure I got the right clutch, inspect the flywheel. And if we’re lucky have it back together this weekend.

Sounds like some lyrics from C W McCall's Black Bear Road.....
It's pretty rare to find a relatively unmolested Jeep and an owner wanting to keep it that way.
I always like to recommend folks start a build plan. This will help you pre plan your build so you can attack it in a logical orderly manner. It will also help you keep from overlooking or missing things that you will wind up having to backtrack to address.
I like to do it in groups.
    Front axle
    Rear axle
    Suspension
    Steering
    Etc........

Hey Brian- love your new Jeep and your new tires! I have a 1965 CJ-5 with 15" wheels. What tires did you put on your Jeep?

Thanks for the quick response. Did you go with the 7.00 x 15's that are 6-ply, or did you opt for the 8-ply G78-15's?

  11. I went with the 7.00x15. Mainly cause I wanted a skinny aggressive tread. Second I doesn’t look too bulky on the spare tire mount.

I have now seen the good life. Was able to use a friends outdoor lift. Made life real easy. 6BE8DEE9-06B4-4324-8221-0A56C77897C6.jpeg
Wanted to get that bell housing off today. Goals to have it back together by Sunday.

I was thinking the same thing about the skinny aggressive tread - can cut through shallow snow and bite into the dirt or pavement below vs. floating on top of it.

Did you with with tubes or go tubeless?

I'm excited for you to get the clutch/tranny/transfer case back in so you can take for a spin!

  15. tubeless Another good reason.

same here! Drive it around a bit and once summer comes I’ll pop the top off. Or Itleast the doors.
