    hey all,
new to the Jeep world. I recently took on a 1973 cj5 restoration from a friend. it has a 304. i'm having a heck of a time finding a replacement water pump pulley. PO doesn't have it and doesn't know where it went.
    any advice?
    cheers,
and boy howdy i'm trying not to become addicted to this rig :)

I had an incorrect pulley on my generator. Somebody on this site (I can't remember their name) turned me on to someone that had a used pulley. They sent the pulley my way and it fixed the issue that I was having with misaligned belts. Hopefully someone on this forum will chime in and help you out.

That pulley should be fairly easy to find. It's a junkyard item, not available as an aftermarket part. Suggest you try the WTB (want to buy) areas on the Jeep and AMC forums, including this one. There are many different part numbers by year and equipment, though I would think that any '73 or later Jeep or AMC with a V8 would be a suitable donor. The AMC guys track their parts closely, but they also hold them dear. You could try the Wagoneer forums - they seem to have extra engines. www.ifsja.org or www.fsjnetwork.com

Aside from a used pulley, there's this - Bulltear-Online - which may be too pricey.

Just check your alignment with a straightedge. AMC had different pulleys for '72 and some early '73s. Late '73-up should all interchange.

This is true, I'm becoming very aware of it. starting to let other projects go dormant while I fiddle with this thing :)

  14. we're supposed to be working on a 4.3 for a forklift and a 4L60E for an s10, but jeep comes first.
