    Re: Rebuilt Rochester 2G overflowing

Don't mean to high jack this thread but concerning the float. I'm rebuilding my carb as well and it originally has a brass one. The rebuild kit comes with a wedge shape plastic thingy. Should I reuse my old one or just use the new one? :?

Once again, if you start your post saying anything about hijacking it will be split...

That said, IF the brass one isn't reusable (you can't reset the drop) replace it. Otherwise I bought a brass one for my 2G.

Use the new plastic float. There are instructions in your rebuild kit about how to set float level and drop depending on which type of float you have....

You like the plastic float better? Or just a new float?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if I use my original float, it does not have to be adjusted. Right?

    trickpatrick Done? LOL

It may need to be readjusted ,you should check the measurment for sure.

my carb is in need of either a kit or replacement. Where did you buy your kit from? And what would be the least expensive way to replace it?

NAPA can get the kits, little under $20

The carb is VERY easy to rebuild and re-seal. I would try that first if it is not all rusted up.

I've called NAPA, but they need the model number off the Carb. The issue is that I can not find the number for the life of me. I've found diagrams showing where to look, but it seems that the numbers are typically displayed on a tag which isn't attached to my carb. This is the only text I found was: GM 2-Jet Rochester, here is a link to best picture of what my carb looks like with the exception of the diaphram looking thing on the far side, my version does not have it. www.carburetor.ca/carbs/kits/CK042.htm. If you guys could provide any help so I can figure out what my model number is would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks, Theo

I ended up matching gaskets out of my kit when i rebuilt it. I do recall the float setings in the rebuild destructions to be rather high compared to the factory settings.
