Today i put in a new thermostat and drained and cleaned the MUD out of the tranny and transfer case and put new gear oil in it...now all i need is to redo the roll bar, put in a new dash, rewire almost everything, replace the axles, get new seats, Put the body together where it was not done right, rhino line the floor, install a parking brake, put on the new bumper, finish getting the motor running right, weld up a hole in the oil pan, replace the power steering pump, and a paint job, and it'll be ready to run.

If i had known how amazingly bad the PO had screwed this thing up i would have bought a different one. I dont know that a fiberglass body and good tires is worth all this. This is a lot more work than it is fun at the moment.

Hang in there. Once its all together and running it will be worth the effort. You will know that it was done right and will be good for a long time.

It is looking good, and remember sometimes life isn't about the destination, but the journey. I have just as much fun wrenching as i do going out breaking stuff.

No Jeep is ever finished that I know of... I used Herculiner on my floors.. Nice lookin body..

  6. Yeah, its one of the only things that are good about it. one of the main reasons i bought it. It has the full fiberglass 4wd body, 4 brand new tires, decent motor, offenhouser intake and 4 barrel holly. Those are the good parts about it. Not all bad, just a hell of a job to get running and right.

I think almost everybody complains about the PO of their Jeep. Remember that people always sell cars for a reason unless they are rich or nutty. You can't expect careful maintenance of a used Jeep, unless it's been owned by an avid enthusiast, or it's a one-in-a-million barn find.
