The real question is, what the heck were you doing wearing a clean shirt?

It would be nice to find a classic grease gun made in U.S.A.

Any brands to look out for?

It was just supposed to be a quick thing to stop the squeaking and sometimes reversing for no reason. But I should know by now NOT to do anything with anything that could possible somehow become messy unless I change into old work clothes. This ain't the first time I've made this mistake, and always a favorite shirt.

We don't make anything here anymore. We just design it for the Cineese to steal.

I'll usually forget to be careful and just grab the grease gun. 2 minutes later I've got an oily mess everywhere.

Grease guns leak..........Been around trucks and trailers most of my life , I bet I've owned 50 or more , from all the hand operated versions to the pressurized barrels and battery operated units.......I'm still using the old hand operated version with the long arm & I like the Lincoln Brand.......as others have said the oils separate from the grease.......most times the grip head going over the fitting wears out and leaks at the fitting..........in the service truck I have an old shirt in the tool box that goes on first..........I also have a cheap pair of HF construction type leather palm gloves that are semi-molded to the grease gun that live on the gun until they die.......yes they are kinda of saturated but at least your not getting your hands directly in the grease............A dirty job but the absolute life of heavy equipment.

I just bought one of these.......going to give it a try someday.

I'm not sure which is the most aggravating part, the mess dripping out of the grease gun or changing the cartridge out (or just adding grease without using a cartridge).

I will be interested to hear your review,I got pretty good at holding the zerk end on and finding a way to brace the barrel and pump....then I got a battery operated one....life is much easier now,and it generates huge pressure ,more than I ever could even when I was young to bust open clogged fittings...down side is I go through more grease..LOL...and yes I find grease every where when done, leather gloves and paper towels...

Yep , struggle with that also.........some fittings are just to far away to reach so I normally have the standard pipe extension on and just hold it at one end.........I used to have a neat tool that busted the dirty clogged fittings via compression, I think it walked away as some tools do? .......most times now me or others just carry a handful of new fittings and a 7/16 " wrench and change them...........Grease is definitely the life blood of this equipment..........some manufactures are getting smart about putting multiple grease fitting blocks in convenient locations.........I like that.

I have had a number of grease guns over the years, but so far the best luck I’ve had has been with an Alemite brand manual grease gun from Fleet Pride.

I keep mine in a small plastic container, I think one made for shoes. Just lay rags or paper towels in the container for grease drippings.

That to me sounds like a formula for a fire. Look up oily rags and spontaneous combustion.

I’ve owned all the electric units from the big three, Lincoln, dewalt and Milwaukee.
The dewalt lasted a week, the Milwaukee is the best one there is hands down.
My grease guns take a beating and generally see daily severe use.

I keep an old cotton athletic sock over the barrel of mine. It soaks up the seperated oil so it doesn't drip or get all over your hand and is easy to change when it's soaked up it's share of oil. A rubber band to keep it in place like the plastic bag mentioned earlier.

Every time I get my grease gun, I put on a Haz Mat suit first, I get grease everywhere. On the Garage door I just buy the Garage Door rattle can spray grease, it works for me.

This is the best thing I have gotten in a while, works great, I have two of them on my battery powered grease guns, I go through two case of Red & Tacky grease a month, in the summer!

Thinking about stopping the grease from separating ... since my uses are so infrequent. I seems like it's worst in the summer when the garage gets hot. Maybe put it in a big plastic bag and store it in the freezer? You'd need to plan ahead and remove it from the freezer several hours ahead of use.

Unless sealed up nicely it may stink up your freezer..............try storing it in a cool dry place with the dispenser end vertical.......when ambient temperatures rise the light oils will rise to the top inside the housing.........before you grease something clear the light oils off with a couple of squirts into a rag or waste container...........works for me.
