Brake And Clutch Linkage Change

    Ok , looking to remove the pivot that works the brake and clutck linkage on a 68 cj-5 I run the chain style clutch linkage and it works great but I have had a problem in the rocks with that pivot parking itself on a rock and than i can't work the clutch . What's out there to remove the pivot and go hydro on the clutch and move the brake master cylinder. Would be willing to replace pedals to do this too. thanks

    Maybe a skid plate of some kind to protect/prevent that ????

    Hanging pedals. Both the brake and clutch master cylinders are up and out of harms way as well as freeing up a bunch of real estate below for exhaust.

    I had a chain linkage as well and ran into the same issue, it would bind up when getting twisty on the rocks. I made a hydraulic set up that keeps the stock pedal assembly. Works great.

    Re. the hydraulic option has anyone ever replaced the throwout bearing with a hydraulic unit rather than hooking a slave cylinder to the throwout lever?

    Alot of the hotrodder and muscle car guys use these because of space issues. I an curious if any of the guys on here are using one and likes it.

    Seems that YJ's used a similar setup..

    I have had two YJ’s and finally switched them both to external slaves after numerous failures. It gets tiring to keep removing the transmission

    I wonder what advantage that arrangement has. It kinda seems like self-flagellation to put even more finite-life parts in a particularly inaccessible location in a new car. You're also increasing the service costs, since I'd guess you'd always replace the slave cylinder and plumbing routinely with a clutch job. Maybe the external slave would interfere with something? Or it's somehow cheaper on the assembly line? "Ease of service" used to be a selling point. Hmm.
