225 V6 Question

So I am picking up a 71 CJ5 this evening, or rather my friend is doing me a solid and going to grab it. It has a running 225 V6 which i am going to put in my CJ2a/M38 frankenjeep.

I am wondering if the 225 sometimes were running a single barrel carb?

I was sent a video of the engine running but it was very pixelated. But the carb looked like a single barrel. It has been 20 years since I last touched a 2G, but the carb looked different. It could be just pixelation and bad eyes. HAHAA

Not in a Jeep, AFAIK. Some or all of the early 60s Buicks cars had a 1V.

The 1966 Dauntless had a Mono Jet manifold.
At least the earlier ones assembled in 1965.
It was fitted with a Rochester BC which is one of the worst of the Rochester carbs.

Ken and Tim are right, but that is no surprise.

The one barrel carburetor setup was used in some Buicks with the 225. One of the 67 CJ5s I have came to me with that manifold and carburetor, but it was a standard CJ5 which had been converted using the car engine, and not a real "Dauntless".

That is the worst carburetor you could find, but you can have that manifold and carburetor for cheap if you want it.

All seriousness aside, I would recommend looking for the two barrel intake and carburetor as would have came on a Jeep with the "Dauntless" branded engine. Those are very good carburetors.

    Super !
So now would be the time to upgrade to a T15 or T18 with six spline maindrive shaft while your at it !

I am good with the T14. I have the original Lhead/T90/Dana 18 and the gear boxes are worse for wear and the motor is not locked up but i do not know the condition. This jeep is going to give me some more power and it is complete to install.
I dont have the time for the T18 at the moment unfortuanately

Since it is a 71 you probably also scored the one piece bell housing used that year.

I'm not sure if the one pice bell housing is a score. It can't be used on a T18 swap.

At least it is a T14 and not a T86.

Yes, but with slight modification to the bell, and a long input shaft, it is great for mating to a T90.

It is something useful for someone wanting to put a V6 into a flat fender Jeep either using the T14 or the T90 if they don't want to change the transmission.
