Been messing with this jeep a little, new alternator and engine mounts. Next is a hydraulic clutch setup.

Been a while since I have been able to work on anything. Finally tackled the hydraulic clutch on the CJ7.

The tub already had the knockout for the master.

I had to thread the slave cylinder rod to use the original adjustment and add a stiffer return spring. I need to find a better way to clip the spring on other than the line.

Also had to cut the clutch pedal arm to bring it up to the same height as the brake. It was 2" lower before.

I removed one of the rivets because it lined up perfectly with the push rod. Then I took a 1/2" bolt and turned it on the lathe to make it a shoulder bolt.

I replaced the smashed up passenger fender and swapped out the wheels and tires. Now it is time to put it up for sale.

I decided to keep the cj7 to use on harder trails that I don’t want to take Ted on. I was going to use the funds from selling it to build Snowshoe for harder trails, but I know something bad would happen to snowshoe, like rolling it over, and I would be really mad. Plus, the cj7 has some really nice modern features like power brakes, hanging pedals ect. Sure all that could be done to snowshoe, but it would take away from the simplicity of that jeep. I have a stock pile of parts that I’ll be putting on it such as a winch and some racing seats.

I had a Harbor freight 12K winch in inventory for about 5 years now. It was new in the box, so I decided to put it on the CJ7. I had to buy a winch mounting plate to make my life easier. I also cut the bumper down to the width of the frame rails.

    Better shot of the winch.

And someone approves of riding around in the 7 versus a Willys!

Did some work to on the rear today. Removed the stock surface mount tail lights that were all smashed and fixed the rear hatch so I can keep the snow out. The hinges had rotted off.

And then one of the cables broke for the latches, so I fixed them by tig welding the eyelets to some 3/16" rod.

I am really liking the way this jeep is coming out. The new tail lights give it a clean look. I also want to build a spare tire carrier that bolts to the rear gate.

And I swapped out the tires for some 34x10.5 tsls and got rid of the black wheels! Now I need to find some proper upper half doors that fit the hard top.

Been doing some little things to it. Both wipers now work, heat works and it has reverse lights. Also added some D rings to the front for recovery points.

I picked up a set of free Smittybilt TJ tube flares. The passenger side has some rot, but whatever. I wanted to open up the rear wheel wells a tad and have some armor here.
