rear vent canister, use it or ditch it?

    I have this canister that was mounted in the drivers side wheelwell on my CJ when I got it. now that I have changed the tub to fiberglass I am wondering if I should figure a way to mount it or simply cap the vents in each corner of the tank and ditch the thing. you guys know?

    On a stocker, I'd say keep it. IIRC the '72 (and maybe '71) tank is the only one with all that goofy external plumbing - in '73 it was all moved inside the tank. I'm not so familiar with the 49-states CJ, but the '72 CA model also has a vapor recovery canister under the hood. All this plumbing doesn't really cost you anything in terms of performance or maintenance (once it's in), and you can be certain that the tank will vent properly. If you have any plastic lines, replace them.

    I say keep it. The p.o. removed it from my 72 and ran one vent line to the pressure valve on the firewall. Now I can not fill my tank over 3/4 or it will bubble gas out the at the firewall on a hot day. The canister traps the liquid gas. Hmm. I mean you definitely don't need it. Would you ship it to B.C. Canada?

    ok, ok nah Im gonna keep it i guess. I just got to get it mounted, I dont want gas bubbling out everywhere.
