Value of fully restored half top

I bought a half cab from a fellow forum member. Not sure of the brand but it is complete with hinges and doors with crank windows. It needs restored and a new rear panel needs to be fabricated. I've now decided I don't want it and would rather have a soft top. If I fully restore it into like-new condition with a fully fabricated rear panel, how much would it be worth? Just trying to determine how much money I can invest in the restoration and make a profit. If I can't then I'll just try to resell it as-is.

 

I would consider $300 a bargain for a good condition Meyer half cab.

Shipping is a big problem. If you can find a motivated buyer nearby, then you may be able to sell it for that much or more. This is assuming it's a relatively modern Meyer and in excellent condition.

 

Thanks, Tim. That's what I was afraid of. I was hoping it would be worth more like $1,000 fully restored. There just wouldn't be enough profit to make it worth my time in fabrication, bodywork, and paint.

 

You could probably find a buyer at, say, $500 if you wait long enough. Demand will not be high though - we like them here, but you'd be selling exclusively to earliest CJ enthusiast owners that want this configuration. Limited market.

 

You could easily get $800 for a fully restored one. The full tops sale for $800+ all the time. Collins Brothers sell them as fast as they can get them in for $1,100 and those are not even restored.

 

Depends, marketing it is the way to go, its an ebay item, not something that you sell to folks like us. We tend to see how cheap they can go for due to our connections, someone less connected will pay more, as they can be difficult to locate. Decent tops can go from $250 to $500, it all depends how much someone wants one.

I may look to find one, while I attempt my sons project Jeep, if I could find a way to fit that to CJ7 full hard doors, I could be interested. But that project is a good few months away from starting.....

 

Depends on location and the market in your area. Around here if rust free and complete $300-on up $1,000 depending on how bad someone wants one. Typically up to $500 though.
