    There should be a metal snap-in cap plug sealing the hole on civillian Jeeps. Yes, its a carryover from the A-1 military as PeteL stated.

    That skid plate bolts to the bottom of your transmission crossmember. Four carraige bolts through the four square holes - the front bends up towards engine oil pan.

    Just a guess, but maybe a Willys truck or wagon? Some of these longer wheelbase vehicles didn't have a cutout for the front driveshaft.

    I am working on a m38a1 gauge cluster wiring. Speedometer has what looks to be a wiring "post" above the speedo-cable. What's the purpose of that post?

    Mounts the "four-way spider" that fed wires to the other minor instruments.

    I picked up a 64 CJ5 to restore, and it came with these brackets mounted to the back of it, I have no clue what they are? Anyone have any idea what they might be? Thanks

    I've never seen ones quite like that but I'm sure it was for spare tire carrier of some kind.
