working on the drivetrain angles in my project....
What’s the stock engine angle in a cj5/6 and where is the best place to get a measurement...
Stock manifold carb base seems logical, but isn’t it angled itself..

I guess you are starting with the frame level? My questions is, what part of the frame do you use to level it?. Depending on how you frame sets, this will determine drivetran angles.

I would call the cowl level, or the frame under the doors. Usually you put an angle finder on the carb base and position the engine with the back end tilting a few degrees down. The valve covers will be parallel to the crank, if the carb base is angled.

I'm assuming this is for the Landy? Get a level measure off a horizontal frame member or rocker panel if the body is together, then tilt the engine nose up 2 or 3 degrees. Some intake manifolds have this angle in the carb base, otherwise, take the angle across the valve cover.

it is for the Land Rover..
I have some drivetrain angles I have to work through before I find my ideal transmission mount..

I figured if I get a good "factory" angle on the V6 and possible pinion, I can start there..
    why reinvent the wheel..

I figured the oil pan would be best bet for the motor.. the Rover rear end has flat bump stop pads.. I have the old DS to throw in there temporarily..

I always try to match the engine/transmission shaft angle to the pinion angle, making them parallel (or at least close).
Then the front pinion angle can be a challenge.
I often set the engine mounts to keep the fan high enough to cover nearly all the radiator and clear the front axle, then mock a trans crossmember in, using the rubber mount I intend to use. I then start stacking/removing washers or other spacers under the mount to set the engine angle I'm shooting for. It does help to have the rear axle under the vehicle to help determine the ideal angles.

Frame level 3-5 degrees is acceptable. My offy intake is factory machined to be level with just shy of 5 deg. slope. More than that and you can have rich/ flooding issues with back cylinders. I also agree about keeping pinion in consideration.
