Anyone know where I can get a padded cover for the stock sportbar on my 72 cj5?

I thought about that as well and then making a cover to fit. I found a hardware/plumbing supply store that has the 2" insulation a little pricey @ 1.10 a foot.

Summit Racing or most any 4x4 shop

    FWIW: I doubt you'll find any under $1.10 p/f

Go to Wal-Mart, back in the camping section they sell closed cell sleeping pads, that is what I used on mine. $5.00 for enough to do my cage. It is a piece about 2'x6'.

Hey guys new to forum but have been doing tons of research over past few months to get my 72 CJ 5 running. I'm looking for sport bar covers. Looking for a kit first before I go summit or jegs looking at regular Nerf covers. Has anyone had any luck? I realize this thread was from a long time ago but hoping someone will know something. I've been looking everywhere and now wondering if the newer 76 and up CJ 5 or 80 and up CJ 5 covers would fit?? As we all know according to the aftermarket jeeps weren't made until 1976 so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I went to Wild Horses 4X4 (the sell early Bronco parts) for the 2" bar padding. Fairly cheap, $4.50 a section. Took it to the local upholstery shop and had the covers made out of spare levi material I had after redoing the seats. Not a huge fan of the look but I will keep them for now. Doug

The padding is just neoprene foam pipe insulation, available at home centers or plumbing supplies.

The race cars where I worked just got padding wrapped with 2" wide black vinyl tape. You can also glue the padding edges together with weatherstrip cement. Mostly it's about preventing a headache or bruises when you bump into the bars. Anyone who can sew should be able to make covers - vinyl can be purchased at big fabric sores by the yard.
