This is a 1971 Jeepster Commando, it's the firewall all cleaned up, I'm sure it's the original color. It seems too light to be Spruce Tip. Any ideas?

Is there a paint and trim tag? Foil tag on the passenger side firewall, in the engine compartment.

Looks like a fleet color, or maybe "Spring Green."

Sorry I don't know the color, but boy did that ever clean up nice! The light oil covering build up sure preserved the paint.

If you can find the paint/trim tag just above the battery that would be the best. If it's not there look on the battery tray, found a few there that fell off since they were only glued on. You'd be surprised how color changes over the years even covered in grime, dust and crap. Just went and checked the firewall on my old snowplow Jeepster which is Empire Blue that looks more green now.

You could be right. They may have used some Commandos.

Looks more like smoke and soot from engine compartment fire judging by the wiring.

I agree. Look at the wires in the pic.......I wouldn't do anything without changing these prior to hooking up a battery.

There wasn't ever any fire as far as I can tell. That's an old pic, all those wires have been replaced. :)

I'm with Tim on this one, Spring Green is a likely choice. I don't have any color chips for '70/'71, but that is the only green that isn't duplicated from earlier years. Your firewall is too bright to be Parkway Green, and Parkway wasn't used after '65.

There isn't a paint and trim tag. It might be a fleet color, the outside is a much darker green and it's got black stenciled letters on the underside of the hood for different maintenance items. Like dwell, timing, etc...

I was thinking the forest service?
