I'm working on tidying up some loose ends and parking brake indicator is one of them.

I have 3 wires I'm unsure of there termination

    760
    761
    762

I know that means nothing to anybody unless they are working on this specific problem at this very moment. So it's my long shot before I dig into this and blow some fuses.

painless tech support a royal painless in the rear...

"our older models don't have the knowledge base that thy should"
"we are currently upgrading the manuals and directions to include all variations"

Seems the brake pressure and E brake are on the same circuit ... going to pick up a pack of 10 am fuses and learn the hard way I guess..

Can't you use your meter to figure this out? Even if the harness is in the car... make a looong clip lead, connect from the termination to your meter probe, and use the other probe to test where each circuit goes.

I could use a meter. I'm just very confused how the circuit operates.
I'm no electrical genious.. I can use a test light and blow fuses. That's about it.

I need to crawl under the dash and find what wire I currently have going to the instrument cluster.. That might steer me in the right direction

I am currently wiring up my 74. There is a solenoid switch on the proportioning valve with two leads.
One of the leads is connected to power via the acc. side of the ignition switch. Then other lead is
connected to the bulb at the brake warning light. The warning light is grounded at the dash. Later years
had a wire attached to the emergency brake ( hence the third wire ). I traced this out on the old harness
with a few broken wires involved. I think that it is correct. Pretty basic circuit.

so figured this out last night...

the Painless lamp requires an independent ground from the cluster... not the typical single wire lamp..
since it "indicates" for both the pressure and parking brake its a constant hot that it grounded by either switch...

Isn't the 2 wire just a ground added? Why not solder an additional wire to the socket? I've done it (if it works the same) when using plastic cluster sockets that needed ground to the speedo.

Wasn't sure if our 2 applications were the same...Felt like twisting under my dash anyway.

Do you have a motorcycle shop in town? They might have something similar. I've got small 2 wire sockets laying in my parts bin from old motorcycle take offs.
