I need to replace the brake light switch, it's the old type with the female connector pins. One has broken off half of the pin. The wire connectors are crap, need to replace anyway. I'm going with the male type pins and connectors.

Question is when I change switches will I have to re-bleed the brake lines ?

    Thanks, John ,,

Leave it in place and swap out to a mechanical type switch. I can take of picture of what I did. The reproduction ones suck and will break like a year later.

I've pulled it off without having to bleed.

I’d like to see a pic of that. I’ve been thinking of a way to make a mechanical type.

If it was me I'd swap it out quickly and hope no bleeding was needed.

I have this on both my jeeps. Works awesome! Keep in mind these are flattys, so a CJ5 might be different. As you can see, I had to space it down with some nuts. It happens that the MC cover is right where it needed to go. The switch is used in 55-59 Chevy trucks. I replaced so many of those pressure switches I got fed up with those junks. Also, the stock wiring will reach and plug right into the switch.

Thanks for the pics. Nicely done. Is the switch readily available?

I have one of those switches waiting for me to get to the point of installing it in my build. The Number I have is from Speedway motors on line and is 910-31306 I am sure NAPA has a similar unit.
